Although Caymus Vineyards is best known for Cabernet Sauvignon, the Wagner family also produces a small amount of Zinfandel, which was a favorite of Caymus' Charlie Wagner. In many ways, Zinfandel is a quintessential California wine. It was one of the early varieties to be planted in Northern California by immigrants from Europe. Limited production.

We set aside the best barrels of our Cabernet to produce Special Selection – the only wine in the world honored twice as Wine Spectator magazine’s “Wine of the Year.” Pushing the limits of richness and concentration, this Cabernet is enjoyable upon release or improves with aging a decade or more. Fine, luxurious tannins give structure to intense flavors of supple cacao bean, chocolate and dark fruits.

Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon is the only wine in the world twice honored as "Wine of the Year" by Wine Spectator Magazine (chosen amongst approximately 10,000 wines). Our quality is the result of a singular focus on cabernet grape growing in a climate where the soils and vines respond very well. This bottling represents the best lots of the vintage.

This Malbec is made from grapes grown in the Andes Mountains, shipped chilled to Napa Valley and produced with the same techniques as our Caymus Cabernet. Falling outside standard labeling rules, it does not include a vintage date but is known by the voyage from which it was produced (Voyage 3 is the 2012 vintage). Offering scents of ripe plums and cherries, this wine is powerful and supple, with flavors of French oak and soft tannins.

Inspired by the idea that less is more, this wine is more minerality-driven than fruit-driven. Not grassy or overly ripe, it offers up delicate fruit flavors with a crisp, bright minerality that calls to mind a first summer rain. Our grapes come from two family vineyards, and we harvest the fruit at just the right moment to achieve a balance of firm acidity and low alcohol.

Grapes for this wine were sourced from Napa Valley’s Oak Knoll district, which includes two family vineyards. The area’s cooler weather, along with crop thinning and gravelly light soil, creates ideal conditions for producing a rich, distinctive Merlot. This wine is lush and supple on the palate, with expansive, dark berry flavors, a fresh earthiness and smooth, leathery tannins.

Never seeing the inside of an oak barrel, Mer Soleil SILVER is a pure, clean expression of Chardonnay. It is fermented and aged in a combination of stainless steel and small concrete tanks imported from Burgundy, France. Fresh from start to finish, this wine features aromas of flower blossoms and crisp pears. It is round and layered on the palate, with vibrant acidity and depth.

The dramatic climate of the Highlands – located within Monterey County – allows us to create dramatic wines. Morning fog, bright sunshine and gusting winds enable longer “hang time” for the grapes, resulting in wines of intense, complex character. With fresh, bright aromas and the taste of white peach, this wine has a vibrant acidity balanced by the lush flavors of fully ripe fruit.
$32.00 per Bottle
Even subtle differences in growing conditions can strongly influence a wine's character. As the second site where we have planted Chardonnay vineyards, beautiful Santa Barbara County is slightly warmer than the Santa Lucia Highlands. At harvest we pick the grapes a little earlier, creating a wine with natural acidity and crispness. This wine offers the lush flavor of apricots and has a luxurious round mouth feel.
